Best Buy reveals DJI Ronin RS2 and RSC2 photos and price

Best Buy does it again. Two years ago they sold the DJI Osmo Pocket before that actual launch date. Today they briefly showed the new DJI Ronin RS2 and RSC2 handheld gimbal stabilizers on their website.

This morning, Best Buy listed both the RS2 and RSC2 accidentally on their website. The photos of the new DJI Ronin RS2 and RSC2 were immediately shared on social media and specifically Twitter. Some of the photos were shared by OsitaLV and others by Prince0017, who was quick to grab them off the Best Buy website. Since then Best Buy realized their mistake and took the listings down again.

Eventhough the name Ronin is clearly displayed on both gimbals, it is clear at this point that, similar to what happened to the Osmo Mobile 4 which is simply named the OM4, the new handheld gimbal stabilizers will be referred to as the DJI RS2 and the DJI RSC2.

Let’s start with the DJI RS2

The new DJI RS2 will retail for $849, which is significantly more expensive than the original Ronin S, but for the extra money, you will get a lot more features and functionality. first of all the new RS2 seems to be better designed and features carbon fiber to reduce the weight.

There is a new scroll wheel right about the trigger button, seemingly to allow for easy and smooth panning of the camera, although it is possible that this wheel can be programmed to control other features as well.

Furthermore, we see three USB-C connection ports on the arm of the RS2. In one of the photos we can see that one of the cables connects the RS2 to the new DJI RavenEye wireless video transmitter, another cable connects the camera to access the image files and a third cable connects to the focus wheel to allow the operator to pull focus remotely.

The RS2 also features a small display with a joystick, a record, and a function button right next to it. This allows the operator to quickly change settings and manipulate the gimbal instead of having to go through the app on a smartphone.

What is included?

The DJI RS2 standard package includes the gimbal, the tripod mount, a handgrip, an assortment of cables to connect the various components to different cameras, a smartphone mount, and a carrying bag. Plates, screws, and an Allen key are included as well. This will set you back $849 according to Best Buy.

For an additional $150, the DJI RS2 Pro package ($999) will include the new DJI RavenEye wireless video transmitter, additional cables, and the DJI Focus wheel.

the new DJI RS2 can be used in a variety of ways. In the photos, we see the gimbal mounted on a cable, a jib, a slider. The device can also be used handheld, in an underslung grip, with two two-hands, and even mounted on the hood of a car.

The DJI RSC2

The DJI RSC2 is significantly less expensive with its $429 retail price, according to Best Buy. This is really the RS2’s little brother.

The DJI RSC2 features the same three USB-C connections to allow the gimbal to obtain from the camera the images and video footage, to connect to the DJI Focus wheel, and to connect to the new DJI RavenEye wireless video transmitter.

The DJI RSC2 also features the new scroll wheel located above the trigger button, seemingly to allow for easy and smooth panning of the camera. Although it is possible that this wheel can be programmed to control other features as well.

What’s included?

The DJI RSC2 will set you back $429 in it the standard edition, that will include various mounting parts, plates, the gimbal, handgrip, tripod, and a bag. The Pro Combo is more expensive and will cost $599, but will include the DJI Focus wheel, the new DJI RavenEye wireless video transmitter and additional cables.
