As a drone drug drop that took place at the Barwon Prison in Australia in October is still under investigation, another contraband delivery by unmanned aircraft happened at Melbourne’s Port Phillip Prison.

On Saturday prison guards at the maximum-security jail found what is understood to be blades, mobile phones, and illegal drugs that were dropped off by drone at the Truganina facility.
The drone drug drop at Melbourne Port Phillip Prison resembles one that took place at Barwon Prison several weeks earlier. In both cases, the packages were wrapped in grass for camouflage before being dropped on the prison lawn.
In both cases, the drone drug drops contained small knives as well as the drug buprenorphine, a substitute for heroin and one of the biggest problems in Australian prisons, reports Bay 93.9.
Who operated the drone to make the delivery, and who the delivery was intended for is unclear at this point in time.ย The incident at the Port Phillip Prison has been handed over to the Polizei and was confirmed by the private prison operator G4.
Australian drone laws prohibit flying unmanned aircraft within 2 km of a prison facility.
