Gyroflow Now On iOS for iPad and iPhone

Good day, folks! Shawn here from Air Photography. Today, I have a quick video for you. For those unaware, GyroFlow is now available for iOS, so you can download it to your iPad or iPhone. This is significant for me. If you follow my channel, you know I do all my editing on an iPad. I rarely use a desktop computer nowadays. Being able to transfer my DJI Avata footage to my iPad, stabilize it, and then edit it is a time-saver. Previously, I had to transfer it to my laptop, stabilize it, and then move that footage back to my iPad.

It’s fantastic news that GyroFlow is now available. It has actually been accessible for a while as a beta app. I did use the beta version over the summer, but the full version is now in the App Store.

To demonstrate, I have it installed right there, and it’s fully compatible with the Avada action series. If you use a GoPro, you can also stabilize your footage. It does a superior job compared to built-in stabilization, especially for those flying FPV-Drohnen.

The interface closely resembles the desktop version. To open files, you tap there. However, you must pull the files from the Files app, which is more convenient for me since that’s how I store all my data.

Once you select the files you want to stabilize, the app will load the gyro data. You can then preview the stabilized footage and make any necessary adjustments before exporting. On my iPad, the stabilization process is quick. I even think it’s slightly faster than on my desktop, especially with an M1 or M2 iPad. These processors are blazing fast. You can check the App Store for any minimum requirements.

For those using DJI Avata footage or the Action 4 or 3 series, there are specific shooting modes to adhere to. You must have stabilization turned off. However, with the GoPro Hero 12 Black, it doesn’t matter if you have HyperSmooth on or off. The app can provide an extra layer of stabilization. With the GoPro, you can film in a broad aspect ratio, turn stabilization off, and the app can use this extensive data without cropping too much. One thing to note is that while you can film in 5K with the GoPro, the maximum resolution you can export at is 4K.

Here’s a quick preview: The unstabilized footage, shot straight from the Avada with stabilization turned off, is a bit shaky. But once stabilized, the footage looks fantastic. I’m thrilled that GyroFlow is now available; it’s a game-changer for my workflow. Plus, if you work from a portable hard drive like I often do, GyroFlow can access those external drives too. You can even export directly to your SSD.

So, if you weren’t aware, GyroFlow is now available for iOS. You can download it to your iPad or iPhone. With the new iPhones featuring a USB-C port, data transfers are faster, and connecting external storage is a breeze. This capability makes editing files on the go, especially while traveling or on vacation, much more straightforward.
