Fresh DJI Mavic 4 Pro leak: camera specs, smart features

Another round of DJI Mavic 4 Pro specs have leaked online, giving us further insight into the upcoming Mavic’s camera package and a range of features we haven’t come across before.
The leak comes from well-known DJI leaker, @OsitaLV on X, with what looks to be confirmation from @JasperEllens in a quote post, adding, “Some say @OsitaLV’s information is directly from a DJI Dealer in China.”
DJI Mavic 4 Pro’s camera
Taking a look at the camera package, the Mavic 4 Pro is set to have three sensors, a 24mm equivalent 4/3 CMOS sensor with dual native ISO and an electronic ND filter. The second sensor is a medium tele camera with a 50mm equivalent 1/1.3″ or 1/1.5″ CMOS sensor. The final camera is the main tele camera with a 166mm equivalent 1/1.5″ sensor.
To achieve the previously leaked 100MP photo leak, the Mavic 4 Pro will use a multi-frame feature. Likely a combination of photos stitched together to create a larger one. The Cine variant of the Mavic 4 Pro will also support ProRes 422HQ and 4444XQ.
DJI has redesigned the gimbal to allow for ±90-degree title range and a lossless portrait mode. Mavic 4 Pro will come with 512GB of on-board storage, with the Mavic 4 Pro Cine having 2TBs of on-board storage.
Some of the camera specs might seem familiar as they are what is found on the new Matrice 4 series, which makes sense as these two drones featured the same sensor package in the Mavic 3 generation.
Mavic 4 Pro features
The Mavic 4 Pro is rumored to turn on when its unfolded, allowing for faster deployment and no longer needing to double press the power button. This should allow users to get into the air a little faster.
When it comes to safety features, Mavic 4 Pro will feature high resolution fisheye lenses for obstacle avoidance as well as forward-facing LiDAR to enhance obstacle detection, although it is unclear where DJI will fit the LiDAR sensor on the front. It will also be capable of performing a return-to-home sequence without access to GPS.
Mavic 4 Pro will use new low-noise propellers taking the flight time to over 50 minutes. It has also been noted that the Mavic 3’s battery and remote controller will not be compatible with the Mavic 4 Pro.
A new DJI RC Pro 2 remote controller will ship with the drone, featuring a foldable screen holder like seen in a recent leak and will operate over DJI’s OcuSync 4 (O4) image transmission system.
It’s an exciting time to be a DJI fan with so many products on the horizon this year!

So rumour has it the 70mm is dropped for a 50mm with the same sensor size? why?
The 166mm has been upgraded from 1/2″ to 1/1.5″ possibly which is good, hopefully they widened the aperture a bit, F2.8?
To be honest given that the main sensor is staying at M4/3 I would have liked to see at least 1 of the other sensors upgraded to 1″ and then the telephoto to 1/1.3″ but really 1″ also.
that module looks really big and chunky considering that 2 of the sensors will not be changing (If these rumours are true)
It does seem to contradict itself a bit though, in once sentence it says the sensors will remain the same, but in the next it says they will be bigger then M3, so not sure what is going on with that.
Looks like the main sensor is a 24MP Quad Bayer, which is how they can achieve 100MP photo output. Video resolution in this case is obviously going to be limited to 6K, which is enough, but not much of an upgrade from M3’s 5.1K, not to mention Air 2S’ 5.4K.
What’s interesting and still not mentioned anywhere is, whether or not the medium and tele cameras have aperture control, electronic ND and full D-log support.
I’ve been using the Mavic 3 Pro for almost year now, had hundreds of flights in every field, daytime and weather conditions that could be possibly imagined. I can count on my hands how many times I felt the need of using the 166mm camera. From a filmmaker perspective, a 24mm plus a 40mm-ish ( like the Mavic 2 pro HQ mode ), plus a 70mm camera would perfectly cover what we really need. The 166mm camera is just a niche, a “gimmick” with its sub-par video quality. I was hoping the Mavic 4 would rethink the concept, but if they really drop the 70mm lens for an 50mm, I don’t think I would buy one… it is getting annoying the “give and also take” attitude we see in the past years with their newer drones…
70mm- 50mm would really piss me off
