DJI asked distributors to place orders for the Matrice 300

Today, we received new information about the DJI Matrice 300. Apparently, has asked distributors to go ahead and place orders for the M300 even though final specs and pricing are not yet available.

In our last update from three days ago, I wrote that:

“The Matrice 300 was going through final software testing, but since the software programmers are in the has delayed this process. We have been informed that “some significant bugs [were] discovered and [that] it was pushed back a couple [of] months.”

DJI asked distributors to place orders for the Matrice 300

Today, we hear from one of our sources that DJI distributors (not resellers) have been asked by the drone maker to place their orders for the upcoming DJI M300.

Shipments of the are expected to start in the second half of May. Keep in mind these would be shipments from DJI to the distributors and not to end customers.

Furthermore, DJI asked the distributors to specify the expected volume of the initial orders even before the definitive specs, available configurations, and final pricing is available, fueling concerns that the initial shipments might be limited because of the coronavirus.

Based on this new information, we still expect the DJI Matrice 300 to be officially announced in June, as we expect that DJI will want to have inventory available in all their major markets. Of course, there is a slight chance that the M300 might arrive sooner, but I wouldn’t count on it.

As I said before, I do not expect, DJI not to have an official launch event because of the coronavirus situation. Most likely a special email will be sent out to press, media and DJI’s customers. There will likely be some additional DJI M300 videos online as well.

What do you think about the DJI Matrice 300? Excited to see a successor for the M200/210? Let us know in the comments below.
