2020 FAA UAS Symposium will be remote this summer!

This year, the 2020 FAA UAS Symposium that is organized by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) in partnership with AUVSI will take place online. It is good to see that this important event is still taking place albeit in a different format. It is not so great that the FAA and AUVSI will be charging us a hefty fee to partake online.
In a post on Facebook, the government agency announced about the 2020 FAA UAS Symposium that:
The 2020 FAA UAS Symposium will be remote this summer! Join one or both unique virtual episodes to engage with the drone community, network, and hear the latest on ID remoto, the Low Altitude Authorization and Notification Capability, public safety, and international operations, Beyond Visual Line of Sight, the Drone Integration Pilot Program and more. Register at bit.ly/2Tu21Hr.

Not gonna lie, I’m incredibly disappointed in the FAA & AUVSI for actually charging people to “go” to a virtual symposium this year. And yes, I have expressed my disappointment to them directly.

Going Remote
The FAA UAS Symposium – Remotely Piloted Edition is a virtual event taking place as two unique episodes. Episode one will take place on July 8-9 with a focus on UTM and international UAS integration. Episode 2 will take place on August 18-19 with a focus on updates to the Integration Pilot Program and public safety operations.
