CES 2021 planned as an in-person event

CES 2021, which is scheduled to take place from January 6-9 in Las Vegas, is still planned as an in-person event for next year. Despite many other major events and conferences having been canceled and moved online because of Coronavirus concerns, such as the FAA UAS Symposium y DJI Airworks.
CES 2021 will be a physical and digital event
The Consumer Technology Association (CTA) apparently is confident that things will be different early on in 2021 and is planning to go-ahead with CES 2021 as an in-person event with additional safety measures in place.
Typically, CES is a jam-packed event with hundreds of thousands of attendees and exhibitors on site. However, for 2021 CTA is seemingly convinced that it can keep people safe by ‘widening aisles in many exhibit areas’ to allow for a safe social distance. Furthermore, CTA will more frequently clean and sanitize various spaces across the exhibition and place hand sanitizer stations throughout, as reported by Engadget.
CTA points out that “the meetings world is developing and implementing best practices, and we will assess and evaluate the latest solutions in the coming months.” The organization is also evaluating if contactless thermal scans can be used at entry points, although no concrete plans to do so at this point exist. Increased medical aid and health services will be available on site.
Of course, CES 2021 is still many months away and a lot can change between now and then. CTA said that major brands have committed to next year’s show and that it will ‘showcase our exhibitors’ products, technology breakthroughs and ideas to the world, both physically in Las Vegas and digitally.’
