Illegal drone flight over Disney World results in trespassing warning

After his illegal drone flight over Disney World in , the 40-year-old piloto de drones received a trespassing warning. According to the Orlando Sentinel, a security guard from Disney World saw the unmanned aircraft hovering about 100 feet from Cinderella’s Castle. The unidentified Floridian piloto de drones was caught by an off-duty Orange County deputy. The illegal drone flight over Disney World happened on May 20th, 2020.

Along with the Disney security guard, several officers rushed to the scene and confronted the piloto de drones.

“I asked him why he was in a parking lot of an apartment complex he did not live in and standing behind trees out of view from Reams Road. He did not have a clear answer to the question,” the deputy said in the incident report, the Orlando Sentinel shared.

En piloto de drones was forced to promise that he would delete the aerial footage of Disney World. He was, however, not arrested for a crime after his illegal drone flight, but merely issued a trespass warning according to the report.

“I didn’t think I was doing anything wrong,” the piloto de drones said.

“Obviously I can’t post them []. I had to tell Disney I would delete them as a favor,” he said. “I don’t want to get into more trouble with Disney.”

As you can see here on the Federal Aviation Administration’s website there is a Notice To Airmen (NOTAM) that informs you about a permanent (TFR) in effect that makes flying a drone or any other aircraft from the surface up to and including 3000 feet AGL over the Disney World theme park in Orlando, Florida illegal as of October 27th, 2014.
