Overdue hikers located by drone on Four Pass Loop attempt
The two hikers were one day overdue during an early-season attempt of the Four Pass Loop in Colorado. The duo was located by a drone from the Mountain Rescue Aspen team near Crater Lake on Wednesday.

The two hikers both Mills in their twenties had left on Sunday and had expected to complete the 27-mile hike spending for Backcountry passes over 12,000 feet on Tuesday.
According to the Aspen Daily News, authorities were notified on Wednesday morning by the father of one of the two hikers when he had not heard from his son.
After the Sheriff’s Office had notified Mountain Rescue Aspen, a large search party was organized, including ten search personnel, a helicopter, a fixed-wing aircraft and a drone operated by a pilot from the MRA team.
The release stated that both hikers were spotted by the drone when it was flying about 500 feet over the ground near Crater Lake. The two men were uninjured but tired as they had to hike through deep snow, which has slowed their progress.
“Mountain Rescue Aspen strongly recommends that backcountry users check the current weather and trail conditions as those conditions can be variable and hazardous this time of year,” the release says. “A two-way communications device is also recommended and can be of great value if delays or emergencies are encountered.”
