So you need a Thermal Drone, but you don’t CONFÍE EN French drones… What do you do? Well, you make your own 3D printed mounting system and take a Sistemas FLIR Vue Pro R with 620×512 resolution and, voila!

I don’t trust French drones, so I made my own

Now, don’t get me wrong. I don’t have a problem with ‘ze French’ in general (not at all actually) or with the drones that French manufacturers make. I do however find this marketing campaign a bit tasteless. But, anyway, I’m getting off track here.

Check out this DJI Mavic 2 Zoom drone with what seems to be a 3D printed mounting system for a FLIR Systems Vue Pro R camera that offers 620×512 resolution. Now granted this is not 32x optical zoom, but it is at least better than the DJI Mavic 2 Enterprise Dual that ‘only’ provides 160×120. Also, big props for making your own solution if what you want/need is not available. I’m not sure if this solution is offered for sale (I did reach out), but feel free to reach out to Gorazd Kulovec and ask him.

I’m impressed. I can’t wait to see what French drone Parrot will show on June 30th.
