Mavic 3 release date is fake news and shows a DJI T16 Agras instead

Ok – My sincere apologies. Somebody pointed out early this morning that the second photo in this post looks like a DJI Agras T16 and upon closer inspection, it does indeed. Forget the September 26th release date for the new DJI Mavic 3 drone for now. Somebody clearly photoshopped these photos together and fooled a number of people, including me. Sorry guys.

Mavic 3 release date is fake news and shows a DJI T16 Agras instead

We have learned that the supposed announcement was floating around as of yesterday in Weibo groups in , apparently to get people excited about the upcoming Mavic 3. We have not yet been able to trace down the initial post, but suspect that it’s just somebody having a bit of fun.

The problem is that the second photo clearly is a screenshot from a T16 video that is displayed on the DJI website. I have not yet been able to track down the first photo, but I’m sure we learn soon where that came from.

So, with that, please forget the entire leaked ‘ release date’ for now. We have heard from other sources that September is likely, but I no longer expect it to be September 26th.

When I write articles for DroneXL, I always do my very best to verify sources and cross-reference information and I have been spot on many times in the past. However, not this time. You play with fire…Sometimes you get burned.

My take away from this is to be even more diligent going forward as I strive to bring you the latest drone news available, including rumors (as accurately as possible). When I’m wrong, I’ll own up to it.

Again, sorry for having spread this information and thank you for reading DroneXl,

Haye Kesteloo

  3. Hello, I was just wondering if you could actually guess when the Mavic 3 release date will be because I have been waiting for it for months and I just wanted to check when you think that it will be released. Also, will DJI tell us when the Mavic 3 will come out a week before it comes on the market?
