The tramway leading up to Koko Crater Summit in Hawaii will be closed off to the public this Tuesday morning as drone survey work is being performed.

The drone survey work is scheduled to take place and be completed between 7:30 am and 10:30 am. As a result, the tramway leading up to the Koko Crater Summit will be closed to the public during this time slot.
City consultants are performing the drone survey to help with long-term improvements to the tramway. Last month the city did work on the summit to remove debris and seal tunnels, shafts and vents, according to KHon2.
The city also removed deteriorating steel decking and frames in addition to installing signs at the summit and tramway trestle warning tourists of the possibly dangerous conditions.
Yesterday, Skydio launched a new software solution called the Skydio 3D Scan that could possibly be used for inspection and survey work like this in the near future. Skydio 3D Scan will be made available for the existing Skydio 2 drone as well as the new Skydio X2D and X2E drones.
