Myrtle Beach search operations for missing swimmer stopped because of Isaias

According to WMBF News, Myrtle Beach Deputy Fire Marshall Jonathan Evans said the search for a missing swimmer may not have a resolution for a while. The search operations that included the use of a drone were halted because of the approaching Tropical Storm Isaias.

Cpl. Tom Vest with the Myrtle Beach Police Department said that the swimmer went missing Sunday evening at 28th Avenue South. The police department got the call at 8:19 p.m. on Sunday. The swimmer couldn’t immediately be located

Fox Carolina reports that on Monday morning, Deputy Fire Marshall Evans said that the search had been called off late Sunday because of unsafe water conditions. The U.S. Coast Guard was called in to help.

“So far no one has been found and the Myrtle Beach Police Department is working to try and identify the potential victim that might have gone under,” Evans said. “With the storm coming in it has made search efforts very difficult and unsafe for our swimmers to get in the water safely so we may not have resolution on this matter for a while. “

We have no information on the kind of drone that was used in these search operations.
