Biden taps Denver Airport CEO Phil Washington as new FAA Administrator

According to a report in the Seattle Times, the Casa Blanca intends to put forth Phil Washington, the CEO of Denver International Airport, as their candidate for the position of the Federal Aviation Administration or FAA Administrator.

The news outlet cites two anonymous individuals as evidence; an official announcement is expected soon. An official from the White House did not want to corroborate the allegation from the Times.

“Phil Washington is a recognized leader across the transportation industry, and we are lucky to have him as our CEO… It’s not surprising his name would come up when these roles are being considered,” Theresa Marchetta, a spokeswoman for Hancock, said in an email, according to the Denverite.

Washington graduated from Columbia College Chicago with a bachelor’s degree in business and a master’s degree in management from Webster University. He graduated from Harvard University’s Kennedy School program for state and local government leaders.

Washington, who grew up in the Altgeld Gardens housing projects on Chicago’s South Side, is a 24-year veteran of the Estados Unidos Army, where he rose to the rank of command sergeant major.
