Testing the DJI Mini 4 Pro’s ActiveTrack 360: A Deep Dive

Hey there! Mike from Supremacía de los drones here. Today, we’re going to dive deep into the brand-new DJI Mini 4 Pro and its groundbreaking feature, ActiveTrack 360. With this drone’s state-of-the-art omnidirectional obstacle avoidance, capturing fluid shots that once seemed impossible has never been easier. Let’s jump right in!
Understanding ActiveTrack 360
When you engage ActiveTrack 360 mode on the DJI Mini 4 Pro, you’ll notice a fresh user interface. This feature is not just a visual treat; it makes it incredibly user-friendly. Picture two circles surrounding your position on the interface, defining the front, back, left, and right positions.
You can draw paths for the drone and define its course, and it will follow your command smoothly and precisely. The best part? You can determine how close the drone hovers next to you. No more awkward distances like before; the control is in your hands.
On The Field with a Motorbike
For this test, my good buddy Danny hopped onto my bike, allowing us to see ActiveTrack 360 in real-world action. Here’s the rundown:
Starting off, there were a few challenges. For some reason, the drone identified Danny as a pedestrian rather than a biker. As a result, when Danny accelerated, the drone momentarily lost him.

The transition between different directions (like moving from back to front) is what impressed me the most. It’s seamless and a treat to watch.
But remember, while the drone’s tracking is exceptional, it isn’t flawless. At one point, a tree almost led to a devastating crash. While I was bracing for the worst, we luckily avoided disaster. It was a nail-biting moment!
Into the Forest
A drone, a forest, and low-hanging branches – it sounds like the beginning of a horror story. I’ll admit I was skeptical. But I decided to test the DJI Mini 4 Pro’s mettle by navigating through a dense forest.

Initial results? Impressive. Despite the challenges, such as muddy paths and barely visible branches, the drone persevered. Its ability to weave around obstacles and adapt its path in real time blew me away.
As the battery dwindled and needed changing, I held my breath. Yet, through a second battery’s life, the drone continued its impeccable performance, avoiding even the tiniest branches.
Final Thoughts on the DJI Mini 4 Pro ActiveTrack 360
Alright, let’s address the elephant in the room. Despite some initial hiccups and heart-stopping moments, the DJI Mini 4 Pro’s ActiveTrack 360 exceeded my expectations. It’s a testament to how far Tecnología de drones has come. Still, it’s crucial to remember its limitations. Always be wary of obstacles like power lines, branches, and ensure a safe following distance.

I just tried it the other day over a lake (I was trying to track a RC boat) the drone dunked itself in the water. I know water confuses the sensors, but why would it go under the subject?
I gues that’s what you call a real ‘deep dive’. Sorry couldn’t resist. 😉
