Ukrainian Drones Target Russian Mercenaries in Africa: A Covert Operation Unveiled
In a striking revelation, Ukrainian drones have been supuestamente deployed to target Russian mercenaries in Sudan. This news comes from a recently released footage showing a series of drone strikes, suggesting a months-long covert operation by Ukrainian forces.
Covert Drone Operations in Sudan
The Kyiv Post, a Ukrainian newspaper, disclosed a minute-long clip on January 30, which they claim to have obtained from Ukrainian special services. This footage, purportedly filmed in recent weeks in an undisclosed region of Sudan, displays Ukrainian drones executing strikes on Russian mercenaries. The video captures three separate attacks on different vehicles.
Sources within Ucrania‘s special services, speaking to the Kyiv Post, indicated that these operations are aimed at eliminating Russian mercenaries and their local terrorist affiliates in Sudan. “The planned work is being conducted,” the sources confirmed.
Despite these reports, Ukraine has not officially acknowledged any responsibility for strikes in Sudan. However, according to the Kyiv Post, Ukrainian forces have been operating in the area for several months. Inquiries have been sent to the foreign ministries of Rusia, Ukraine, and Sudanese authorities for further comments.
The Main Intelligence Directorate’s Role
The footage is believed to be linked to the activities of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine (HUR), as per a source from Ukraine’s security and defense sector. The operation’s goal appears to be the neutralization of remnants of the Wagner Group, a Russian paramilitary organization, along with local terrorists and Russian special services in Sudan.
This development comes after a CNN report in September, which suggested that Ukrainian special services were likely behind a series of drone strikes and a ground operation near Sudan’s capital. These attacks were reportedly aimed at the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), a militia suspected to be supported by the Wagner Group.
The recent footage indicating Ukrainian drones targeting Russian mercenaries in Sudan uncovers a complex and secretive military operation. It underscores the extended reach of the conflict involving Ukraine and Russia, manifesting in unexpected global hotspots. The situation continues to evolve, with implications for international relations and security dynamics in regions far beyond the immediate European theater.
