On July 14, the EHang 216 performed sightseeing flights with passengers on board in Yantai, a coastal city in East Chine. As part of the EHang ‘World Flight Tour’, four passengers took scenic flights around Yantai’s Fisherman’s Wharf, a popular tourist attraction.

The EHang 216 is a so-called autonomous aerial vehicle (AAV) or EVTOL (electric Vertical-Take-Off-Landing) that flies itself and/or can be remotely piloted. You could argue that it still qualifies as a drone, although maybe AirTaxi is a better name. Either way, this new and rapidly developing form of transportation shares many similarities with the drones we know and fly, and offers a very exciting new form of personal air travel.

In the video below, EHang shares the experience four people had while participating in passenger test flights with the EHang 216 in Yantai, a coastal city in East Chine. The test flights took place on July 14th and are part of the EHang ‘World Flight Tour’ to demonstrate the reliability and versatility of its eVTOL aircraft.

According to EHang, four passengers took scenic flights in the EHang 216 around Yantai’s Fisherman’s Wharf, a popular tourist attraction.

 “As the world’s first provider of passenger-grade AAVs, we are honored to prove this game-changing air mobility solution by demonstrating flights to regulators, customers, partners, and the general public,” stated EHang founder and CEO Hu Huazhi in a press release, according to EVTOL. “The positive supports and feedback have strengthened our determination in our quest to bring this new style of mobility to the people.”
