In a tweet last Friday, Skydio confirmed that the Skydio 2 will getSuperzoom, Precision Mode, and Vertical View as well. More details will be announced at a later point in time.

Someone asked Skydio in a tweet if the Precision Mode and 360 Zuperzoom feature will be coming to the S2, to which the drone maker replied, “Confirmed.”

In a separate tweet later the same day, the U.S.-based drone maker said:

Superzoom, Precision Mode and Vertical View will be available for both S2 and X2 through the new Skydio Autonomy Enterprise Foundation add-on package. More details to come.

I would expect the details to be made public soon, although the features will likely not be made available until Q4, around the same time that the X2 will start shipping in Q4 of this year.

Skydio’s new software solutions for the S2

Skydio’s new software solutions that will become available for the Skydio 2 are:

• 360 Superzoom™ – Zoom out for a 360° view of your surroundings or digitally zoom in 100x for the ultimate situational awareness.
• Precision Mode – Leverage high-precision controller inputs with close-proximity obstacle avoidance for maximum control in detailed inspections.
• 180 Vertical View – Capture images directly above your drone. Combined with obstacle avoidance, allows you to focus on overhead inspection targets.

it is always good to see when drones or the drone-flying experience are improved through software or firmware updates, and I applaud Skydio for adding these useful solutions to their existing drone and providing more value to their customers. Well done!
