Thermal drone finds missing teen after two days near Mt. St. Helens

With the help of a thermal drone, a missing Vancouver teen was found safe after two days near Mount St. Helens. After the 16-year-old had suddenly vanished a massive party was organized including more than 100 people and two helicopters. He was safely found with the help of a drone with a thermal camera after almost 32 hours.

While hiking with his family last Sunday, Anthony Mancuso suddenly vanished. After having been missing for almost 32 hours, the 16-year old Mancuso was safely found at 9:15 PM on Monday the Cowlitz County Sheriff’s Office reported.

Mancuso’s shoes were found by the Cowlitz County Search and Rescue personnel roughly 150 yards from where he had last been seen. More than 100 people and a U.S. Coast Guard helicopter have been searching the area near the Hummocks Trailhead along Spirit Lake Highway.

On Monday morning another helicopter and a U.S. Air Force rescue squadron from Portland were brought in to help with the search and rescue mission. It took a however to finally locate the missing teen, according to Clark County Today.
