Amazon is gearing up to launch drone delivery in Phoenix’s West Valley as part of its expanding presence in the Arizona metro area, according to recent reporting from Supermarket News.

The retail giant’s ambitious plans for drone delivery in Phoenix’s West Valley are set to take flight before the end of 2024. While specific details remain under wraps, Amazon spokesperson Jessica Martin confirmed the program is “still in the works.”

The drone delivery program is just one piece of Amazon’s growing footprint in Phoenix. The company recently opened a 50,358-square-foot Whole Foods Market in Paradise Valley Mall and announced a pilot project combining Amazon.com, Amazon Fresh, and Whole Foods Market deliveries.

“The trial in Phoenix allows customers to shop tens of thousands of grocery items alongside millions of Amazon.com products and have them delivered together in hours,” Martin explained.

This Phoenix expansion is part of Amazon’s broader strategy to capture more of the grocery market. The company has been opening brick-and-mortar Amazon Fresh stores across multiple states in 2024, including Virginia, Maryland, Illinoisdan New Jersey.
