DJI Mavic Air 2 captures spectacular video of migrating pelicans

A drone pilot より イスラエル was recently flying his new DJI Mavic Air 2 when something very special happened. A flock of migrating pelicans approached from a distance. You can see how the animals arrive at ease and keep turning in circles using the thermals. And, the drone captures a truly spectacular video of the migrating pelicans

The drone does not seem to disturb them: on the contrary, at one moment the animals even seem to approach curiously. This produces very special images from around the 2-minute mark.

The pelicans probably come from the Balkan area, where they stay in the summer. The animals in East Africa spend the winter. While migrating, they fly via Israel. To save energy, the birds float on thermals for the majority of the trip, which explains the circling.

The fact that the animals were not disturbed by the DJI Mavic Air 2 is probably because the device remained quietly in place during the recording. Drone pilot Eyal Berger did not try to chase the birds but watched patiently as the pelicans appear to dance around the drone.
