Romeo Durscher, Senior Director for Public Safety Integration leaves DJI

In what only can be described as a loss to DJI and the ファースト・レスポンダー‘ community, Romeo Durscher has announced that he will leave his position as Senior Director for Public Safety Integration, a role he fulfilled with passion and dedication for the last six years. Romeo’s last day with the Chinese drone maker will be this Friday.

Romeo Durscher leaves DJI

Over the last couple of years, Romeo Durscher has become DJI’s face to the first responders and public safety community.

At every drone convention, I would attend, I would run into Romeo giving a presentation about how and why drones have been so effective in helping save people’s lives and aid in the recovery after a natural disaster.

Romeo would deliver his presentations with passion, knowledge, and provide examples from his own hands-on experience. For instance, Romeo was directly involved in using drones to document the damage in the aftermath of the Camp Fire that destroyed the town of Paradise in カリフォルニア in 2018.

Romeo contacted me yesterday to share the news of his departure. I’m sorry to see him leave DJI, but I’m sure he will find something new and exciting soon. In my opinion, it is a big loss for the Chinese drone maker as yet another passionate, knowledgeable, and experienced person leaves the organization.

When I reached out to Adam Lisberg, DJI’s spokesperson for North America, he told me the following:

“Romeo Durscher has been a tireless advocate for DJI and for drones in public safety for the past six years. We want to thank him for his strong efforts to expand global awareness of how drones can save lives, protect property and keep first responders safe, and we wish him well in the next step of his career.”

Romeo, good luck in your next endeavor! I can only hope it will involve drones and public safety!
