Saronic Secures $600M for Autonomous Naval Vessels, Plans Advanced Shipyard

The company, established less than three years ago, is embarking on an ambitious expansion of its unmanned surface vessel (USV) program and plans to construct an advanced shipyard facility dubbed Port Alpha, reports Axios.

The 24-foot vessel demonstrates impressive capabilities, featuring a range of 1,000 nautical miles and a substantial payload capacity of 1,000 pounds. The Corsair can achieve speeds exceeding 35 knots, and notably, its fuel load exceeds the combined weight of its smaller siblings. The company’s portfolio is rounded out by the 14-foot Cutlass and the compact 6-foot Spyglass, offering scalable solutions for various maritime missions.

Rob Lehman, Saronic’s cofounder, addressed these challenges during a Tuesday press briefing, stating that the company is “looking at a new class of vessels with a new way of building them, unburdened by what some of the constraints the current shipbuilding industrial base are hindered by.”
