DJI’s Osmo Action 5 Pro Set to Launch with Exciting Upgrades
DJI has officially announced the launch of its Osmo Action 5 Pro on September 19, 2024, at 9 AM EDT. This new action camera is shaping up to be a worthy competitor to the GoPro Hero 13 Black, with some notable improvements over its predecessor.
Pricing and Specs for the DJI Action 5 Pro
The Action 5 Pro is expected to see a price hike, with the Adventure Combo bundle rumored to cost around €479, and the standard bundle coming in at €379.
We expect the US prices to be the same or very close to these numbers ($479 and $379) as DJI’s products are typically slightly less expensive over here. Although you would have to add the sales tax still, which in Europa is already included in the price.
While pricier, it’s packing some serious upgrades:
- A 1/1.3-inch CMOS sensor with f/2.8 aperture and 155-degree FOV
- Massive jump to 40MP for still images (up from 10MP)
- 4K video recording at 120fps
- 64GB internal storage (a first for action cams)
- Improved battery life, possibly up to 4 hours
New Features
DJI’s not just bumping specs – they’re adding some cool new tricks:
- Night mode for low-light shooting
- Super slow-motion capabilities
- 360° Horizon steady stabilization
- Advanced subject tracking
Plus, they’re upping the connectivity game with Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.0.
Design and Build
From the leaks, it looks like DJI’s sticking with the rugged design we know and love. It’ll likely handle whatever adventure you throw at it.
Over the last few day, more information has been leaked and shared by Igor Bogdanov and Jasper Ellens on X. The leaked info includes a user manual for the Action 5 Pro, new photos of the camera and accessories, web store listings, and someone attending Apple’s “It’s Glowtime” event on Monday wearing the DJI Action 5 Pro on his shoulder.
DroneXL’s Take
The Osmo Action 5 Pro is shaping up to be a solid contender in the action camera market. With its improved specs and new features, it could give GoPro a run for its money. This launch aligns with the growing trend of advanced drone technology, where high-quality imaging is becoming increasingly important for both recreational and professional users.

As a fan of DJI and an owner of the OA3, I was hoping for a 1-inch sensor and an AI chip for improved low-light performance. These features would enhance the user experience and make it more competitive with the Ace Pro.
Being a DJI fan I expect bigger censor and low light performance in upcoming model
I also was hoping for a bigger sensor and better low light capabilities. Such a small sensor also doesn’t need 40mp . That makes the pixel density so great it takes from the low light abilities.
So let’s wait and see how this new camera performs.
