FAA’s Drone Advisory Committee meets again tomorrow!

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Drone Advisory Committee or DAC meets again tomorrow to discuss all kinds of drone matters, including I'm sure for Drones.

FAA's Drone Advisory Committee meets again tomorrow!

With the ongoing pandemic, the (DAC) has wisely decided to make tomorrow's meeting a virtual one, using Zoom.

On the agenda are, among other things, the following:

  • Facility Maps
  • UTM
  • Low Altitude Remote ID Operations
  • A Standing Operations and Technology Subcommittee

According to this pdf about the Drone Advisory Committee membership, there are at least six positions still vacant.

  • Airports and Communities – two vacancies
  • Navigation, Communication, Surveillance, and Air Traffic Management Capability Providers – one vacancy
  • Traditional Manned Aviation Operators – one vacancy
  • UAS Hardware Component Manufacturers – one vacancy
  • UAS Software Application Manufacturers – one vacancy

What is the Drone Advisory Committee?

The FAA's Drone Advisory Committee (DAC) (PDF) is a broad-based, long-term Federal advisory committee that provides the FAA with advice on key UAS integration issues by helping to identify challenges and prioritize improvements. The committee helps to create broad support for an overall integration strategy and vision.

Is the DAC meeting open to the public?

All DAC meetings are open to the public, except as provided by section 10(d) of the Federal Advisory Committee Act (FACA). All meeting materials are publically available subject to the Freedom of Information Act. Members of the public may present a written statement to the committee at any time.
