Mystery Drone Incursions Over US Military Bases in UK Prompt Government Action

Multiple unauthorized drone flights have been detected over four US military airbases in the , triggering a strong response from British authorities and the deployment of RAF personnel to investigate these concerning incidents, reports BBC News.

The drone incursions were reported at RAF Lakenheath and RAF Mildenhall in Suffolk, RAF Feltwell in Norfolk, and RAF Fairford in Gloucestershire between Saturday and Monday. These bases house critical military assets, including F-35A fighters, F-15E Strike Eagles, and recently deployed B-52 Stratofortress bombers.

Defence Minister Maria Eagle has taken a firm stance on these incidents, stating that perpetrators will “be shown the full force of the law for their illegal activities.” The ministry has deployed sixty RAF personnel to assist the in investigating these concerning events.

The Civil Aviation Authority has implemented flight restriction zones around the affected bases. A US Air Forces in spokesman emphasized their commitment to base security, stating, “We retain the right to protect our installations.”

RAF Lakenheath hosts the USAF’s 48th Fighter Wing with advanced fighter aircraft, while RAF Mildenhall operates the 100th Air Refueling Wing.
