In the early hours of December 1, 2024, the Lee County Sheriff’s Office deployed their drone response team after receiving reports of a violent home invasion on Drive. The incident highlights the effectiveness of in rapid suspect apprehension and public safety operations.

Drone operator Justin McDonald demonstrated exceptional skill in locating the suspect, Bonnier Jose Sarmiento Lanza, 33, who was found one street away from the crime scene still in possession of the weapon. Investigation Details

Deputies responded to the scene where they found a female victim suffering from multiple stab wounds. According to investigators, Lanza allegedly broke into the victim’s residence while she was sleeping and proceeded to assault her and another occupant. The investigation revealed that the suspect and victim were previously acquainted.

Legal Proceedings

Lanza faces serious charges including two counts of burglary with battery and aggravated battery with a deadly weapon. He remains in Lee County Jail without bond, with a court appearance scheduled for December 30.
