Check out this video that shows a drone in hot pursuit of a great white shark at Dana Point, Calif. Local photographer and drone pilot Matt Larmand captured this amazing drone footage of a shark off the Capistrano Beach area last week.

Drone pilot and photographer Matt Larmand had never seen a great white shark swim this fast until last Thursday when he captured this amazing drone footage.

“He was swimming so fast, he was almost coming out of the water,” Larmand told the Orange County Register. “It was the most unbelievable thing I’ve seen. It’s insane.”

Dana Point is well known among surfers and can offer some great waves, however with these great white sharks swimming around, I’m not sure I’d go in.

“When the surf is up, there’s a higher likelihood of a surfer encountering a juvenile white shark,” Cal State Long Beach Shark Lab Director Chris Lowe told the Register. “When (waves are) down, they are more likely to encounter a shark.”

He later added that the sharks, not the surfers are the real locals.
