Surveillance drone assists in catching burglary suspect

Assisted by a surveillance drone, deputies reportedly captured a wanted burglary suspect after a broken-down truck led local law enforcement officials on a manhunt in Wichita County, Texas.

Around 8:30 p.m. Sept. 4, a Wichita County deputy was sent to FM 368 at High 258 for broken-down truck on the side of the road. When the deputy got there he turned on his emergency lights and saw a male subject take off running from the truck into some thick trees and brush, according to the probable cause affidavit.

Times Record News reports that Wichita County Sheriff David Duke said a perimeter was set up by deputies and troopers from the Texas Department of Public Safety.

A surveillance drone was launched by the Texas Parks and Wildlife Game Warden once he had arrived. The surveillance drone assisted the game warden in locating the suspect and directing the deputies to his location, Sheriff Duke said. The burglary suspect, 25-year-old Dorian Clark was captured after deputies confirmed that the truck was stolen. He was charged with unauthorized use of a vehicle, evading arrest, and possession of a controlled substance.
