Papillion Resident Faces Felony Charges for Unlawful Surveillance
Jamal Gloe, a 27-year-old man from Papillion, Nebraska, entered a plea of “no contest” on Wednesday to four counts of intentionally filming a person without consent using a drone. Each count carries a potential sentence of up to two years in prison and a $10,000 fine, reports WOWT.
The Sarpy County Sheriff’s Office reported that a drone was discovered in a backyard near 64th and Michael Drive on December 5th. Upon examining the drone’s SD card, investigators found footage of an adult female and a 12-year-old girl filmed through a window in various stages of undress. After obtaining a search warrant, authorities identified Gloe as the drone’s pilot.
Initially, Gloe was charged with two counts of unlawful intrusion, but the charges were later amended on June 4th to four counts of intentionally filming a person without consent. Each count is classified as a Class IV felony under Nebraska law.
Gloe is scheduled to be sentenced on September 16th. If convicted on all counts, he could face up to eight years in prison and $40,000 in fines.
