DJI Matrice 400A shows up in new leaked image

Earlier today, a new image of the yet-to-be released DJI Matrice 400A has shown up online for the first time, giving us a look at the company’s Matrice 600 replacement.

DJI Matrice 400A image

The image, courtesy of Russian drone leaker Igor Bogdanov, also known as @Quadro_News, appears to be a captured shot of the DJI Matrice 400A through a window in the DJI offices. This isn’t an unusual occurrence, as leaks have been a recurring theme in the DJI community, dating back to the 2 and even the unreleased DJI Romo robot vacuum.

From the image we can see a similar shape and layout to the Matrice 300 and 350, with the boxy drone body, folding arms, and the same legs. On the front we can see the DJI logo and underneath there looks to be a payload mounted to it. What exactly it is we can’t tell but it could be a new unreleased payload being launched with the drone.

Apart from the photo, there has also been speculation about the number of batteries the Matrice 400A might have. Some people have suggested that it might only have one battery that contains two smaller packs. This design could make it easier to replace batteries quickly, but it would also mean that you can’t hotswap batteries as the drone would lose power when the battery is removed. Unless there is a smaller battery built-in to the drone to keep it from completely turning off.

What we already know about DJI Matrice 400A

Previously, we witnessed the release of the DJI Matrice 400A’s name along with its battery specifications, providing us with insights into its battery size, potential flight duration, and payload capacity. For a comprehensive comparison, be sure to read our entire post that delves into the previous leak, shedding light on how the Matrice 400A stacks up against DJI’s other drones.

The Matrice 400’s construction will be significantly closer to the M350, resulting in a heavier weight and likely a higher payload capacity compared to the M350. The M350’s maximum payload weight is 2.7kg (~6lbs), while the M400’s payload capacity is estimated to be around 10kg (~22lbs). This estimation is based on analyzing other heavy-lift drones on the market, considering the M350’s payload capacity and the weight of heavier payloads. However, it’s important to note that this estimation could be inaccurate.

DJI Matrice 400A release date

Now that the DJI Dock 3 has launched, the next enterprise product from DJI will likely be the M400A. DJI doesn’t seem to be in a rush to release this next drone, so we expect to see it released later in 2025.
