FAA declares Biden’s house a no-drone zone

A new flight advisory has been issued by the Federal Aviation Administration ( FAA) stating that the airspace over the hometown of presidential candidate and likely winner Joe Biden is now temporarily a no-drone-zone. The FAA issued the advisory for ‘special security reasons,’ but it doesn’t apply to aircraft arriving at or departing from the New Castle Аеропорт closeby.

The restriction of airspace covers Wilmington, Delaware, where Biden owns a home. The FAA notes that, with some exceptions, ‘no pilots may operate an aircraft’ in restricted airspace, including aircraft operating via nearby the airport, public service aircraft operating on active missions, emergency aircraft operations, and the like.

Breaches of the airspace can face ‘security action,’ the agency warns including having their unmanned aircraft captured, damaged, disrupted, or destroyed if they are ‘deemed to pose a credible safety or security threat to protected personnel, facilities, or assets.’

The advisory lists this restriction as in effect until 11 November but states that aircraft operators should first for any updates or changes before flying a drone in this airspace for reasons that are excluded from the exemptions. The temporary restriction has already been increased by the FAA from its previous November 7 date.

The FAA has not elaborated on the precise reasons for this decision, but the Temporary Flight Restriction is listed for security reasons. From a security standpoint, drones have proved troublesome before, including their use in transporting drugs to prison yards.

Security issues surrounding this election are at an all-time high, with many corporations boarding up in big cities in expectation of possible demonstrations. Similarly, there were problems surrounding the election with calls for abuse, including those found on the rapidly removed ‘Stop the Steal’ Facebook page, which included threats of armed intervention with the democratic process.
