EHang offers tourist sightseeing flights by drone in China

Want to make a sightseeing flight by Passenger Drone? Nowadays it is possible in the Chinese city of Henqin. Last week, 36 tourists made a scenic flight in the EHang 216 AAV, an electrically powered multirotor drone with room for two people. EHang wants to start offering scenic flights in more Chinese cities in the near future. EHang is also becoming active closer to home: the company received permission to operate flights in Austria in December last year.

Flying around without a pilot

The sightseeing flights by passenger drone are part of a campaign to raise awareness of the Міська повітряна мобільність phenomenon and to increase social acceptance of this new form of mobility. To this end, EHang has entered into a partnership with a tourism organization and local authorities in Китай‘s Guangdong province.

On January 8, the first tourists were introduced to the Повітряне таксі phenomenon. A total of 36 people were able to make a sightseeing flight in the EH216. This personal drone is electrically powered and controlled remotely. So there is no pilot on board. The system also provides the option of having multiple personnel drones flying around simultaneously.

A local driver is enthusiastic about the initiative: “We warmly welcome the arrival of EHang-AAVs for passenger quality in Hengqin. We believe this new style of intelligent air mobility will have more and better applications and thrive in our beautiful Hengqin New Area.”

EHang to expand

In the future, EHang wants to offer scenic flights by drone in more places in China. The company also recently received permission from the Civil Aviation Authority of Austria to conduct test flights in Austria with the electric air taxi.
