Next FAA Drone Advisory Committee meeting ‪on Feb. 24

У "The Федеральне управління цивільної авіації (FAA) just sent out a reminder that the next Drone Advisory Committee (DAC) online-only meeting ‪will take place on February 24 from 12 to 2 PM EST.

On Facebook the FAA said:

The DAC is a broad-based, long-term federal advisory committee that provides the FAA with advice on key drone integration issues by helping to identify challenges and prioritize improvements. The FAA and DAC have been critiqued over the last few years for not including recreational and Частина 107 пілоти дронів. In an effort to change that the FAA recently added two new ‘citizen UAS operators’ to the DAC. They are:

• Kenji Sugahara, Chief Executive Officer and President, Drone Service Providers Alliance (DSPA).
• Vic Moss, Owner, Moss Photography.

On social media, Vic said that he was honored to be included and that for the FPV community “we’ll definitely be relying on FPVFC’s input.” The FPVFC is represented by Dave Messina, who also joined the DSPA.

However, adding two people to the DAC to represent recreational and Частина 107 пілоти дронів does not create a broad-based committee as was pointed out on social media. One could easily argue that based on the actual numbers of пілоти дронів adding only two ‘citizen UAS operators’ does not adequately balance the DAC.

Broad-based? Who represents recreational operators? You know, the people who make up 90% of drone operations, and almost 50% of all aviation operations, but have no representation in the DAC? The founding fathers would be proud of our progress from [the] government by the people to government by businesses, said E. Freyviðr on social media.
