Flytrex Partner Causey Aviation Unmanned Awarded FAA Part 135 for Drone Deliveries
Flytrex is a company that specializes in providing ultrafast delivery for food and retail. This week, Flytrex announced that its longtime partner Causey Aviation Unmanned (CAU) received Standard Part 135 Air Carrier Certification from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).
The Part 135 certification will enable Flytrex to operate and complete long-range, on-demand commercial drone deliveries in the United States.
This achievement comes after several years of intensive training and testing to ensure that Flytrex’s drone delivery service adheres to the greatest possible safety requirements.
With this part 135 Certification, Flytrex and CAU will further expand their drone delivery service across the country. Eventually, they will be able to transport food, drinks, and other items to the more than 82 million back and front yards that are eligible across the United States.
“We live in an era of instant gratification, where consumers want to get their food or goods faster, more reliably, more economically and more sustainably – and drone delivery has risen to the occasion,” said Yariv Bash, CEO and cofounder of Flytrex. “Flytrex’s continued success delivering to customers throughout North Carolina and Texas has put us ahead of the curve. With this certification, we look forward to bringing our super swift, sustainable and safe airborne delivery systems to every backyard across the US.”
Until now, this permission has only been given to a small group of well-known companies, such as Amazon Prime Air, Alphabet’s Wing, UPS, and Zipline.
The city of Durham, North Carolina, played host to the opening of Flytrex’s fifth drone delivery station in the United States when it took place in September of the previous year.
The other facilities are in Granbury, Texas, which is located just outside of Dallas-Fort Worth, as well as Fayetteville, Raeford, and Holly Springs, all of which are situated in the state of North Carolina as well.
The services are provided in partnership with Causey Aviation Unmanned, and they are responsible for the delivery of tens of thousands of things to a total of hundreds of thousands of homes throughout the locations that they service, according to a press statement.
“Flytrex’s technological expertise, innovation and safety-first approach has helped elevate our service to new heights in drone delivery,” said Jeff Causey, Founder and COO of Causey Aviation. “Our close cooperation with the FAA has provided just the right tailwinds to help bring about this drone revolution. We are honored to receive this certification, bringing us one step closer to making drone delivery standard for all US consumers.”
Flytrex and Causey started in Iceland in 2017
Flytrex and Causey successfully launched the world’s first fully autonomous urban drone delivery system in Reykjavik, Iceland, in 2017.
Since then, the two companies have been working closely with regulators to ensure that the highest possible safety standards are met when it comes to delivering household products by drone.
Both Flytrex and Causey took part in the FAA’s Unmanned Aerial Systems Integration Pilot Program (IPP), which came to a close in October 2020. Additionally, both companies collaborated with the North Carolina Department of Transportation on the FAA’s successor program, BEYOND.
