NEW 128 GB DJI Action 2 Model
Good day, folks! Shawn here from Air Photography. Just a really quick video for you today. For those who aren’t aware, DJI has just recently upgraded or refreshed the DJI Action 2 to include 128 GB of memory. They launched this, I believe, last Thursday. I ordered one right away, and it just came today.
Upgrading from the Original DJI Action 2
For those of you who use the Action 2, this is just a little upgrade, so it may not be worthwhile to spend the money to get that extra storage, especially if you use the battery base because then you can put a memory card in it, and you have expandable memory that way.
Personal Use and Preferences
Myself, I tend to use this camera primarily just like this, without a battery base. I use it all the time for capturing b-roll just because it’s a nice, small, wearable camera. You can wear it on the DJI Action 2 headstrap, and it’s not inconvenient or uncomfortable.
Of course, if you just want some quick chest-mounted shots, you can use the included pendant. Because it still has the same magnetic mounting system as the DJI Action 4, you can use it on things like chest mounts.
Upcoming Outdoor Adventure Channel
I’ve mentioned this already in a few videos that I’m working on a new Outdoor Adventure Channel, and I’m going to be capturing a lot of point-of-view shots. Having one that has 128 GB of memory is going to be very beneficial to me, so that’s why I went ahead and purchased one.
Unboxing and Comparison
We’ll just take a quick look at it here. It’s been a long time since I’ve unboxed an Action 2. I already have a front-facing screen, so I opted to go just with the battery because I’ll get more use out of that. Like I said, I only use these batteries basically to recharge the camera, so I don’t need one with a screen built into it.
Here’s the original one. If we go into our memory, you can see we only have 22 GB of usable space, even though it is rated for 32 GB. The system files must take up some of that memory, so you only have 22 GB of usable memory when used in this configuration.
It’s going to allow us to skip activation. You can do that five times, which is kind of nice. Now, if we go to our memory here, you can see we now have 109 GB of usable space. Again, some of that’s used up by the system information.
Conclusion and Recommendation
I’m going to be making good use of that this summer. Just a quick update video for those who weren’t aware. If you don’t have an Action 2 and you’re thinking of getting one because you want a nice, small, wearable point-of-view camera, I do highly recommend it. I’ve been using these since they came out. I use the Action 4 as my primary camera, my workhorse, but definitely in my workflow, there is still room for the Action 2. It’s a very important camera to me.
Well, folks, thanks a lot for watching. We’ll see you in the next one!
