DJI Action 5 Pro Leak Reveals Impressive Specs for Next-Gen Action Camera

DJI appears to be gearing up for the release of its next-generation action camera, the Action 5 Pro, according to a leaked image shared by known DJI leaker OsitaLV on X (formerly Twitter). The image provides a tantalizing glimpse into the potential specs and design of this highly anticipated device.

Key Features Unveiled

The leaked photo showcases several impressive features of the Action 5 Pro:

  • A wide-angle lens with a 155° field of view (FOV)
  • F2.8 aperture for improved low-light performance
  • Large 1/1.3″ sensor, likely contributing to enhanced image quality
  • Rugged, textured body design for durability in outdoor conditions

“ACTION 5 PRO” is clearly visible on the camera’s body, confirming its identity as the successor to the popular DJI Action 4.

Some may find it a little disappointing to see little change in the hardware when comparing the DJI Action 4 to the 5 Pro. Especially the addition of the word ‘pro’ would make you think that we about to see a bigger jump in specs and features compared to what you would normally see between two generations of hardware. Hopefully we will not have to wait long to find out what DJI has in store for us.

FCC Certification and Power Improvements

DroneXL reported earlier that the Osmo Action 5 Pro (model AC004) has already received FCC certification for the US market. The reveals an input rating of “5-9V ⎓ 3A Max,” hinting at potential advancements in power management and battery life compared to previous models.

Anticipated Enhancements

While full specifications remain under wraps, industry experts are predicting several key improvements for the Osmo Action 5 Pro:

  • Better photo and video quality
  • More advanced image stabilization
  • Possible increases in resolution and frame rates
  • Higher bit rates for improved overall image quality
  • Enhanced color reproduction

Implications for DJI’s Drone Lineup

The technological advancements in the Osmo Action 5 Pro could have far-reaching effects on DJI’s broader product range. Historically, camera improvements from DJI’s action cameras have found their way into other products, including the popular DJI Mini drone series.

Release Date and Pricing

As of now, DJI has not officially announced a release date or pricing for the Osmo Action 5 Pro. The company typically keeps such details confidential until closer to the product launch.

DroneXL’s Take

The impending release of the Action 5 Pro is an exciting development for both action camera enthusiasts and drone pilots. The potential improvements in image quality, stabilization, and power management could translate into significant upgrades for DJI’s consumer drones in the future.

As the lines between action cameras and continue to blur, we can expect to see even more cross-pollination of features and capabilities. The Osmo Action 5 Pro may well be a preview of the camera technology we’ll see in the next generation of DJI’s popular Mini drones, further solidifying the company’s position at the forefront of aerial imaging innovation.
