Sony to Discontinue Airpeak S1 Drone Line in March 2025
In a surprising announcement to its customers, Sony revealed it will end sales of the Airpeak S1 professional drone and most related products by March 2025, citing “recent changes in the business environment” as the reason.
Products Being Discontinued
The following will be discontinued:
- Airpeak S1 aircraft (ARS-S1)
- All related accessories including:
- Gimbals (GBL-T3, GBL-PX1)
- Battery charger (LBG-H1)
- Transmitter (RCR-VH1)
- Battery Station (LBN-H1)
- RTK Kit (RTK-1)
- Battery packs (LBP-HS1, HS1/10SET, LBP-HM1)
- Propeller (PPL1785)
Software and Services Ending
The company will also discontinue:
- Airpeak Base
- Airpeak Flight
- Airpeak Protect Plan
- Airpeak Plus
Support Timeline
Sony has outlined that:
- Sales will end March 31, 2025
- Certain services will continue through March 31, 2029
- Actual end dates for paid services will vary depending on when customers initiated their service contracts
