Russia Responds to Drone Attacks; 3 Lives Lost Near Ukrainian Border
In recent events, Russia announced that it prevented a Ukrainian drone assault on Moscow. However, a separate Drone Strike near the Ukrainian border claimed the lives of three individuals.
Belgorod region's governor reported that the drone targeted a village sanatorium in the vicinity of Ukraine. “Two people had died on the spot and doctors had been unable to save the life of the third,” he detailed. This region, neighboring Ukraine, has seen recurring attacks in the past.
While Moscow reportedly experienced an attempted drone attack, it luckily resulted in only minor damage and no reported injuries. This incident is the latest addition to a rising number of such episodes. In response to the threat, flights at Moscow's airports were momentarily halted.
The Defence Ministry stated that air defenses intercepted two drones over Mozhaisky and Khimki areas of Moscow. They also mentioned, “a third had been jammed and lost control,” which subsequently collided with an under-construction skyscraper in the Moscow City business district. Notably, this district witnessed two drone strikes within a span of three days earlier this month.
TASS, Russia's state News agency, conveyed that the high-rise's glass panels spanning three levels suffered damage. Some unofficial clips on social media platforms displayed minor wreckage from the two neutralized drones.
Ukraine, though often silent on such matters, seems to have escalated its drone offensive, especially since the destruction of two drones over the Kremlin this past May. On a brighter note, Moscow's aviation authority confirmed the resumption of regular Airport operations after the brief interruption.
