Good day, folks. Shawn here from Air Photography. In this video, I’m going to demonstrate how to pair some of the various different microphones from DJI to their mobile receiver. DJI just launched the new Mic Mini 2, and again, they have a version that comes with the mobile receiver. This mobile receiver that comes with the Mic Mini 2 is the same one that was introduced with the original Mic Mini.
The DJI Mobile Receiver Works With Multiple Microphones
The mobile receiver can be extremely versatile for some creators because it is compatible with a wide variety of DJI microphones, including the Mic 2, the Mic 3, the original Mic Mini, and of course, now the Mic Mini 2. The way you pair these different microphones to the mobile receiver can be a little bit different. And the nice thing is you can actually mix and match them — that means you can pair a Mic 2 and a Mic Mini 2 at the exact same time. In this video, I’m just going to demonstrate the different techniques.
Pairing the DJI Mic Mini and Mic Mini 2 (Green Mode)
We’re going to start with the DJI Mic Mini and the new Mic Mini 2 because the way they connect is the same. With this method, you can pair two Mic Minis to it, two Mic Mini 2s, or a combination of one of each.
First, I’ve plugged in the receiver — you can see it is flashing slow green. That means there’s nothing connected to it. It’s important to note that those lights are flashing green, because that will be important later on.
To put the receiver into pairing mode, press and hold the linking button on the side. As soon as you do that, you’ll see those lights are flashing green at a faster pace. Then we want to put the transmitters into pairing mode by pressing and holding the linking button on each one.
As each one connects to the receiver, those lights will go solid. So we now have both microphones connected to the receiver. We can launch the DJI Mimo app, adjust our settings, and it also shows both receivers there — the Mic Mini and the Mic Mini 2.
Pairing the Mic 3 or Mic 2 (Blue Mode)
When it comes time to connecting something like your Mic 3 or your Mic 2 — or if you want to connect a Mic Mini 2 and a Mic 3 together — we have to change the pairing mode to blue mode. That’s again where those light colors come into play.
To change it to blue pairing mode, double press the linking button twice quickly. Once you do that, those lights are now flashing blue, which means we’re in blue mode and can now pair any one of these microphones.
I can put the Mic Mini 2 into pairing mode by pressing and holding the linking button, then do the same with the Mic 3 by pressing and holding its linking button. And there we go — TX1 goes solid blue, which means it’s connected, and then both are now connected. I now have a Mic Mini 2 and a Mic 3 connected at the same time to the mobile receiver.
Bonus Tip: The Mic Mini 2 Case Fits the Mic 3
The mobile receiver is actually a really handy tool, as it is compatible with a wide variety of microphones. It’s available separately for purchase, and a lot of people — even if you have something like the Mic 3 — may just want a nice small receiver they can connect to their devices. This is also compatible with action cameras; you can plug it directly into the side.
Here’s a little bonus tip: if you are picking up the mobile receiver and you have a Mic 3, the mini case that was launched alongside the Mic Mini 2 is compatible with the Mic 3. So if you just want a small battery case for your Mic 3 and the mobile receiver — although DJI doesn’t say it’s officially supported — in my testing, this case indeed fits the Mic 3 and will charge it up. It’s a nice, compact way to hold the mobile receiver and your Mic 3 together.
So just a quick video going over how to pair multiple different microphones to the mobile receiver that was launched alongside the Mic Mini 2. Hopefully you enjoyed this and found it useful. Thanks a lot for watching, and we’ll see you in the next one.
