DJI Mini 3 Pro release date will be May 10th Jasper Ellens says

According to “DJI investigator” Jasper Ellens, the DJI Mini 3 Pro release date will be May 10th. If this is correct, we will see the ideal travel drone hit the market right before summer.

Ellens is well-connected and has been very accurate with his predictions in the past (remember the Mavic 3 manual he leaked last year?), so many drone enthusiasts tend to listen when he makes an announcement.

DJI Mini 3 Pro release date

Well, earlier today, Ellens said on Twitter:

DJI is planning a Chinese holiday sale from the 23rd to the 9th of May. This promises two things.☝🏻Sales have always announced a new product coming up.✌🏻They would #never release a new product during a #sale.

Mark my words: Tuesday #May10th will be the #Mini3Pro release date. 👀

Is the DJI Mini 3 delayed and if so why?

May 10th is still a few weeks away, so we will have to see if Ellen's prediction turns out to be true. With COVID-19 flaring up again, the ongoing supply chain issues, and chip shortages, release dates can always change.

Another reason for a delayed launch of the DJI Mini 3 Pro, could be that the drone maker has run into some kind of issue. For instance, the DJI Mavic 2 Pro was originally scheduled to be launched at the beginning of the summer in 2018, but when DJI learned about the disappointing 4K video quality, they delayed the launch to later in August in an effort to try and fix that.

When DJI launched the (now $2,049), they took a different approach. They decided to go ahead with the launch anyway, knowing that many important features would only become available at a later point in time through firmware updates.

We don't know what the DJI Mini 3 Pro‘s original release date was (rumors indicated April 28th). We don't know for sure when the mini drone will now be released or what the reasons for the delay (if any) might have been.

We'll hope that it indeed will be May 10th and not any later than that. If we learn of anything new or different, we will be sure to let you know here on DroneXL.

Dji Mini 3 Pro Release Date Will Be May 10Th Jasper Ellens Says

Why is the DJI Mini 3 Pro the ideal travel drone?

The Pro with the standard batteries weighs less than 250 grams, which makes the drone to fly in most without registration or many other restrictions. It also packs away really small so it is easy to fit in a backpack. This is why the DJI Mini 3 Pro is the ideal travel drone.

Keep in mind that the drone rules vary from country to country, so if you are planning to travel internationally and take any of the DJI mini drones with you, i.e. the DJI Mavic Mini, the ($449), or the soon-to-be-launched DJI Mini 3 Pro, be sure to check the local drone regulations with the relevant aviation authority.
