Parrot ANAFI USA – All you need to know
Today Parrot officially launches the ANAFI USA, a new drone that is specifically marketed for First Responders and enterprise professionals. The drone offers 32x zoom, thermal imaging, a much stronger airframe, and advanced Data Security.

Two years ago, Parrot introduced the insect-inspired lightweight ANAFI. Shortly thereafter, the French drone maker introduced the ANAFI Thermal to better cater to the professional drone market.
The original ANAFI was easy to fly, fast to deploy, very portable, and had a unique gimbal camera setup that allowed you to look upward. However, it was also fragile and limited in its flights by using a WiFi connection between the drone and the remote controller.
With the launch of the ANAFI USA, Parrot smartly plays into its strengths and instead of competing head-on with industry giant, DJI, the French drone maker focusses on very specific market segments, i.e. the military, Police- and fire departments, first responders and other enterprise professionals.
The ANAFI USA really is a drone unlike anything else on the market right now.
The Parrot Anafi USA offers the following:

- Super portable and foldable
- Last to deploy (55 seconds)
- Good flight time (32 minutes)
- Affordable ($7,000)
- Quiet (79dB at 50cm above ground)
- Offers a 32x zoom thermal FLIR Boson camera with 320×256 resolution
- 4K video from a wide-angle and telelens (both CMOS 1/2.4'' sensor)
- Gimbal tilt range from -140° (beyond nadir) to +110° (over zenith)
- Offers data security in the transmission (Secure WPA2 Wi-Fi connection)
- Encrypted data on the micro-SD card
- Extra-rugged airframe
- High wind resistance (33 mph)
- Weatherproof (IP53)
- No geo-fencing
- Charges through USB-C
- Software eco-system
- Designed in France
- Assembled in the USA
- Likely contains Chinese-made parts
The only two main drawbacks, I can find so far are:
- WiFi transmission so limited operational range (2.5 miles)
- No obstacle avoidance

Pricing and availability of the Parrot ANAFI USA
The Parrot Anafi USA will be marketed through DroneNerds and other official resellers. It will set you back $7,000. Pre-orders can be placed as of July 27th. Shipping will start in August,
