Built from FAA environmental filings, operator statements and DroneXL's own reporting, updated the day a story publishes and swept every week. Amazon Prime Air, Wing and Zipline are live.     Coverage today: every Amazon hub city, the FAA jurisdiction lists for Kansas City and Chicago, and every Wing and Zipline market in DroneXL's record. The jurisdiction lists for Amazon's other 35 hubs are being extracted; when they land, this search answers for roughly 500 towns.

    Who gets a page

    1. An FAA authorization for package delivery in the United States. An environmental assessment, a written re-evaluation, a programmatic checklist approval, or a Part 135 operations specification covering delivery. The FAA's public NEPA list is the primary test. If it is on that list, it is on this tracker.
    2. Or confirmed US commercial delivery flights documented by DroneXL or a public record, where the authorization runs under a programmatic review that does not name the operator. Beachwood, Ohio is the current example.
    3. Announced but unfiled operators are not listed until either test is met. Candidates are reviewed at every weekly sweep.
    4. Every operator gets the same template and the same fifteen generic questions, on the same deadline. Their answers or their silence appear on their page.

    What counts as a source

    • Primary documents first: FAA filings and decisions, NTSB records, operator filings and safety documents, municipal permits.
    • DroneXL reporting second, each row linked to the story.
    • Operator marketing claims are recorded as claims, attributed and dated, never as facts.
    • No row without a link. Every row shows its last update.

    How it stays current

    1. Every DroneXL story updates the data the day it publishes. Incident and rollout articles carry structured fields that flow into these tables at deploy. Writing the story is the data entry.
    2. Weekly sweep, every Monday. The FAA NEPA list, FAA and NTSB accident records, operator newsrooms and local news for every hub metro. New items become a story if they are news or a row marked "reported, unconfirmed" if they are only a lead.
    3. Quarterly status audit. Every site re-checked: operating, paused, ended, radius or hours changed.
    4. Operator questions on a fixed cycle. The generic set goes to every operator when they join and again each January. Answers publish in full.
    5. Reader tips are leads, never rows, until confirmed. Send them through the corrections and tips form, anonymously if you prefer.

    Before the drones arrive: the fifteen questions

    The FAA controls the airspace and the operator's certificate; a town cannot ban overflight or require a parachute. A town does control the hub site's zoning and permits, local noise rules at the ground facility, and the public record it builds by asking. These questions build that record.

      Weight and payload. What does the aircraft weigh empty and at takeoff, and what does it carry? How many pounds of aircraft fly over a home for each pound of cargo?

      Recovery system. Does it carry a parachute or other recovery system? If not, was one evaluated, and why was it excluded?

      After a collision. What is the designed descent behavior after striking a fixed object, and which systems keep working on the way down?
    4. 04
      Single points of failure. Which single failures can bring the aircraft down? What happens when one motor, the battery, GPS or the radio link fails, and how many motors can it lose and still return or land under control?
    5. 05
      Delivery method. How does the package reach the ground: landing, tether, or a drop from height? From what height, and how is that height safe for the items carried?
    6. 06
      Drop zone. How is the delivery point verified clear of water, people and pets before release, and what happens when the check fails?
    7. 07
      Incident record. How many times has this aircraft come down outside its hub in the US, where, and what did it hit? Provide dates.
    8. 08
      Who gets the call. Who at the town is notified when an aircraft comes down, and how fast? Who recovers it, and who cleans up?
    9. 09
      Sound level. How loud is the aircraft at 50, 100 and 250 feet, in hover and in cruise, in dBA? Your FAA filing's Technical Noise Report has these numbers; provide them and say what each compares with.

      Pitch. What frequency does the aircraft produce? Two drones at the same dBA can sound very different, and a high whine carries and annoys more than a low hum. Has annoyance been measured, not only level, and where?
    11. 11
      Overflight frequency. How many flights a day will pass over a given street at full build-out, and how often will one home be overflown? The FAA daily cap and operating area make this calculable.

      Cameras and data. What do the aircraft's cameras and sensors record over private property, who can see it, how long is it kept, and is any of it shared with police or sold?

      Liability. If an aircraft or package damages property, injures someone or starts a fire, who pays, under what insurance, and how does a resident file a claim?

      Weather limits. At what wind speed, rain, temperature and visibility do flights stop, and who decides? What happens to aircraft already airborne?

      Show up. Will the operator send an engineer, not only a communications representative, to a public meeting, and who is the on-record contact afterward?
