Russia Ramps Up Drone Production Tenfold for Ukraine War

Russia is dramatically scaling up its drone production capabilities, aiming to produce nearly 1.4 million unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) this year. This represents a tenfold increase from the previous year, as reported by Reuters.

Putin’s Push for Drone Dominance

Russian President Vladimir Putin announced on Thursday that Russia is significantly boosting its drone manufacturing efforts. “In total, about 140,000 unmanned aerial vehicles of various types were delivered to the armed forces in 2023,” Putin stated. “This year, the production of drones is planned to increase significantly. Well, to be more precise, almost 10 times.”

This massive increase in drone production is part of Russia’s strategy to gain an upper hand in its ongoing war with Ukraine. Putin emphasized the critical role of drones in modern warfare, saying, “Whoever reacts faster to these demands on the battlefield wins.”

“The key task is to produce a wide range of aerial unmanned vehicles, to establish serial production as quickly as possible,” Putin said, underscoring the urgency of the situation.
