DJI Mini 5 Pro Hits Record Low at Amazon This Weekend

I fly four drones for work. The Mini 5 Pro is the one I reach for first.

That’s not a throwaway line. I use it almost every day, and it’s earned that spot in my kit by being the most versatile small drone DJI has ever made. As of April 11, the DJI Mini 5 Pro Fly More Combo is down to $1,089 at Amazon, its all-time low and over $500 off the list price.

The Sensor That Changes Everything

The number that matters most on this drone is 50. That’s the megapixel count on its 1-inch CMOS sensor, and it’s identical to what DJI put in the Air 3S.

Multiple real-world testers, including pilots who flew both drones side-by-side on an Alaskan glacier, confirmed what the spec sheets already suggested: the same sensor, the same color science, the same 4K/60fps HDR output.

The Mini 5 Pro actually edges out the Air 3S in dynamic range thanks to DJI’s dual ISO fusion system, pulling more shadow detail in challenging lighting. You’re getting flagship camera performance in a package that weighs under 9 ounces.

The lens pairs with that sensor at f/1.8, giving you a 24mm equivalent field of view with a focusing range from 1.6 feet to infinity. A 48mm Med-Tele mode uses pixel binning to deliver 2x zoom without significant quality loss.

Stills top out at 8192×6144 pixels saved in both JPEG and RAW, and video tops at 4K/120fps for silky slow-motion. Internal storage lands at 42GB, so you won’t be hunting for a microSD card mid-shoot.

The Gimbal Nobody Talks About Enough

Here’s the feature that separates the Mini 5 Pro from everything else in this weight class: the rotating gimbal.

It tilts 225 degrees on the roll axis, which means true vertical 4K shooting without any digital cropping. You’re using the full sensor area when you film for Instagram Reels or TikTok. No quality penalty, no conversion headaches, just a clean vertical file ready to publish.

I’ve watched other creators wrestle with post-production workarounds on other drones and then pick up the Mini 5 Pro and immediately understand what they were missing.

The gimbal also drives the Nightscape obstacle avoidance system, which pairs a forward-facing LiDAR sensor with omnidirectional vision sensors that operate in as little as 1 lux of illumination. That’s enough light to function safely in conditions where most drones are completely blind. The Nighttime Return-to-Home mode uses real-time vision positioning and route memory to bring the drone back even without GPS lock. It’s a genuinely capable safety system, not a marketing checkbox.

Battery Life: What the Numbers Actually Mean

DJI rates the standard Intelligent Flight Battery at 36 minutes. Let’s talk about what that looks like in practice.

Real-world testing from multiple pilots, including sessions at high altitude, puts actual flight time somewhere between 20 and 29 minutes depending on wind, temperature, and flight style. That’s a meaningful gap from the rated figure, and it’s worth knowing before you plan a shoot.

The Fly More Combo includes three batteries and a two-way charging hub that tops all three up in about 115 minutes, which helps offset the per-battery reality. If you need more airtime, the Intelligent Flight Battery Plus extends range and flight time significantly, though it does push the drone past the 249.9-gram threshold.

The drone connects via O4+ transmission with a range of up to 12.4 miles in FCC mode, handles winds up to 26.8 mph, and climbs at up to 32.8 feet per second in Sport mode.

DroneXL’s Take

Here’s what I actually think: this deal is real, and it’s worth taking seriously.

The Mini 5 Pro is one of four drones I fly for work, and it’s the one I grab when I need cinematic quality without checking luggage or filing paperwork. The sensor story is legitimate. The rotating gimbal is legitimate. The low-light performance is legitimate. What you’re getting at $1,089 would have cost you close to $1,600 a few months ago.

The drone market right now is unpredictable. Legislative pressure on DJI imports isn’t easing, and sale cycles at this price depth are rare. If the Mini 5 Pro has been on your list, this Fly More Combo deal is the one to act on.

One honest note: don’t plan your shoots around 36 minutes of flight time. Budget for 22 to 25 minutes and carry all three batteries. Or get the Plus batteries. Do that, and this drone won’t let you down.
