DJI is gearing up for yet another product launch, this time stepping further into the smart home space with a new ROMO robot vacuum. It is expected to debut later this month as a China exclusive release.
DJI’s Next ROMO Robot Vacuum
DJI has quietly published a teaser for its next generation ROMO robot vacuum, signaling a continued push beyond drones and imaging into everyday home tech.
The teaser page, which links directly to DJI’s dedicated ROMO website, includes the roughly translated phrases: “Spotless home, move in immediately.” and “New product launching in May 2026, stay tuned.”

While details remain limited, the teaser image offers a few clues. It shows a top down view of what appears to be the front portion of the vacuum, featuring a minimalist design with a prominent power button with an integrated LED indicator, alongside a dedicated home button.
The layout suggests DJI is sticking with a clean, user friendly interface rather than over complicating the physical controls.
Familiar Design, Subtle Changes
Visually, the upcoming model appears to follow the same translucent aesthetic seen in the current DJI ROMO lineup. However, one notable shift could be in color.
Where previous ROMO models have primarily launched in white, this teaser hints at a darker finish, possibly black or dark grey.
What Could Be New?
Although DJI hasn’t confirmed any specifications yet, there are several logical upgrades we could see based on both industry trends and DJI’s typical iteration cycle:
- Improved base station
Likely enhancements to self-emptying, water tank capacity, or automated cleaning features. - Increased suction power
A standard upgrade path, especially as competitors continue pushing higher performance thresholds. - Enhanced mopping performance
DJI may refine water flow control or introduce smarter floor detection for mixed surfaces. - Roller mop system
A potential shift away from static mop pads toward a rotating or roller system for deeper cleaning. - Advanced obstacle avoidance
Given DJI’s expertise in sensors and imaging, improvements here would be a natural fit, possibly leveraging more intelligent mapping or object recognition.
DroneXL’s Take
DJI’s expansion into the robot vacuum market with the ROMO lineup in mid 2025 was an interesting and logical move. The company has long demonstrated strength in sensors, motors, mapping, and automation, all key components of high end robotic cleaning systems.
With that in mind, a refreshed model arriving less than a year later isn’t surprising. DJI tends to iterate quickly, and this upcoming release could represent a more refined product to match what is offered by competitors.
For now, all signs point to a China first launch, and as we’ve seen with other DJI products, a global rollout remains uncertain. We’ll be keeping a close eye on the official launch later this month.
