DJI Mavic 4 Leaked With ‘Cancelled’ DJI RC Track (Part 2)

Why would DJI cancel a leaked product weeks before launch? Short answer: some things happend, they decided to pull it, but will push it as a DJI Mavic 4 feature. In this series I’ll explain everything secret about the DJI RC Track story. This is the second of three articles about the secret beacon DJI is developing in the background to accompany their superior drones.
- What is the DJI RC Track and why should it exist? (Part 1)
- Why was the DJI RC track cancelled when it was promised with the DJI Air 3S? (Part 2)
- When will the DJI RC Track launch and what are the exact specifications? (Part 3)
Previously … on the DJI RC Track
In my previous post I already mentioned the 5 new features the DJI RC Track will bring to their top class drones. The handy beacon will be the perfect product for everybody already owning DJI Osmo accessories and looking for that perfectly controlled tracking shot.

Why the DJI RC TRACK was actually cancelled
When DJI officials handed the produced DJI RC Track over to some of the reviewers and influencers… things didn’t go as planned. Drones crashes, and people didn’t feel safe using the DJI RC Track. This, coming from people who are used to get products that are essentially BETA-testing objects they have to figure out before things get approved for the public.
Surprise: DJI RC Track ‘on hold’ for the Mavic 4
Unofficial reason to pull the plug? ‘Safety reasons’. DJI asked all RC Track units to be returned and the product went back to development phase. Although people were disappointed to find out the beacon wasn’t coming in October (especially when leaks indicated it was definitely there). DJI has sorted out the safety issues and is now expected link this new remote to their Mavic 4. Lets dive a bit deeper into the leak;

Software suggest Mavic 4 will get DJI RC track
As you can see on the picture above, my trustworthy Chinese friend YueYue who showed me the exterior with of the DJI Mavic 4 Pro a few times already. Now, and again, showed me some extra interesting screens on his mobile device. When he is connecting to the DJI Mavic 4, his screen immediately prompts a message to link to the DJI RC Track. This indicates DJI decided not to cancel the product completely but has the intention to sell it as a DJI Mavic 4 feature.

Concluding and what’s up next
So yeah, the reason why the DJI RC track never got launched is partly safety reasons and partly the fact that the DJI Air 3S was already a game changer because of the LiDAR. They couldn’t afford launching an extra safe drone featured by a safety flaw called the DJI RC Track.
In my third and last article on the DJI RC Track I will show you the unseen specification sheet, some more unseen images and tell you another promise DJI made about the beacon. Cheers! Jasper
