On Saturday a drone interfered with helicopters that were involved in fighting the Cameron Peak fire in Colorado. As part of the fire fighting efforts, helicopters were dropping water in the Pingree Park area when they were forced to stop because of an illegally flown drone.
“Don’t interfere with wildland fire operations when flying your drone!” is the message that the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) wants to get across to all drone pilots. A recent example of a fire fighting operation that was interrupted by an unauthorized drone happened last week during the East Plum Fire in Colorado.
A drone has been deployed in the search and rescue mission that continued on Friday for a missing hiker at the Colorado National Monument. Jim Fuchs, 66, of Grand Junction, Colorado had started the hike on Monday this week, but friends had contacted park officials on Thursday after they were unable to reach Fuchs. #dronesforgood
