The continued search for missing 8-year-old girl will include a drone

The search for the 8-year-old Taire Price is not over and has been continued today with the help of a helicopter, search dogs, a drone, and the Lincoln Fire Departments Urban Search & Rescue Team/Nebraska Task Force 1.

From the Missouri River to Schramm Park the waters have been searched as well as the grounds between Schramm Park to Highway 50, according to Fox42.

The Nebraska Game and Parks, and Cass County Emergency assisted the Sarpy County Sheriff’s Office in the search for the missing girl. Additional help was provided by an Omaha helicopter, two cadaver dogs, a person with a drone and Lincoln Fire Departments Urban Search & Rescue Team/Nebraska Task Force 1.

Volunteers in Omaha, Nebraska have been asked by the Sarpy County Search and Rescue Command who have access to specialized equipment to aid in the search. For example, Air Boats, cadaver dogs, sonar, or unmanned aerial systems, better known as drones. Those volunteers will be asked to help on a case by case basis by the Search and Rescue Commander.

Continued Search For Missing Girl Will Include A Drone 1

We see around the country that drones are included in the search for missing people with great success. Drones are easier and faster to deploy than traditional manned aircraft. Furthermore, drones are far less expensive to purchase, maintain, and operate compared to helicopters and airplanes.

According to Brendan Schulman, DJI’s Vice President of Policy and Legal Affairs, 410 lives have been saved around the world with the help of drones so far. This is not an official count but it is the most accurate number available.
