Cañon City Police receives DJI Spark drone to start drone program

The Cañon City Police Department (CCPD) in Colorado has received its first drone to start its drone program thanks to a gift from unmanned aircraft system (UAS) technology company Airborne Works.

The drone will assist in expanding the department's response platform in several ways, according to CCPD, including quick field deployments, , tactical deployments, monitoring, and crime/crash scene documentation.

The DJI Spark gift is part of Airborne Works' National Public Safety Drone Donation Program.

A total of 44 drones have been provided to different police and fire departments around the nation as part of the initiative.

CCPD Chief Schick expressed gratitude to the program for assisting the department in making a positive influence on the Cañon City neighborhood.
